Before I became a coach, I owned my own business. I was working day in and day out. I couldn’t get home for dinner, I missed my kids’ recitals and football games; I was missing so many important events in my family’s lives. I finally decided enough was enough. I sold the business. Through my experience as a business owner, I learned what not to do to become a success. I was continually thinking, “I have so much knowledge to share! I’d really like to help other business owners escape the perpetual work week.” This is when I decided to become a business coach.

Until that point, I had never heard the words business and coach in the same sentence. The first time I heard it I thought, “Wow! That is a really good idea! I’d like to be a business coach.” Because I was a business owner, I knew what it was like to not make payroll, not be able to cash your own check, not get home for dinner, and to work seventy hours a week. Trust me, it’s no way to live.

After a few years of business coaching, I met John Gray. He recruited me to join his Mars Venus team as a business coach who utilized the practices of Mars Venus. When John Gray asked me to come to his team, the first question I had was, “What does Mars Venus have to do with business?”

John’s response? “Everything!”

If you don’t think business and relationships work in sync with one another, you’re greatly mistaken. Your relationships with your clients, your customers, your employees, your vendors, and your suppliers—all these relationships are an integral part of the success of a business.
